Passwords and API keys, kept like a browser keeps them

The database password and the API token you need on a server are a search away, encrypted, and never left in a text file or on screen.

Passwords & keys in Termiyo is one encrypted list of the passwords, API keys and tokens you use at work, each with its site and user name; the secret itself is never shown on screen. It imports the CSV file that Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox exports, and a copied password is cleared from the clipboard after a few seconds. Use it instead of keeping credentials in a text file.

“Passwords & keys” is one list of everything secret you use at work: passwords with their site and user name, API keys, tokens. They are encrypted in your vault; the list shows where each one is for and never the secret itself.

Recorded in Termiyo with test passwords and a test browser export written for the recording. No real account or password appears.

Steps

  1. Open Passwords & keys

Press “Passwords & keys” in the menu. Each row shows what it is for, the site and the user name; the secret itself is never on screen.

  2. Save one, or make one

Press “Add a key”, name it, and fill in the website, the user name and the value — or press “Generate” for a strong random password. “Kind” says whether it is a password, an API key, a token or a certificate.

  3. Bring your browser’s passwords

Press “Import from a browser…” and choose the CSV file Chrome, Edge, Brave or Firefox exports. It is read on this computer, and the preview names each site without showing a password.

  4. Find one and copy it

Search by name, site or user name, then “Copy user name” or “Copy password”. A copied password is cleared from the clipboard after a few seconds.

Good to know

  • A search never matches a password itself, only its name, site and user name.
